Meeting on international cooperation 2025-2028

The Federal Council Dispatch on the International Cooperation Strategy (IC) 2025-2028 is currently undergoing consultation. What strategic role do the topics of #globalhealth and international health cooperation play in it, and how could they be strengthened? These questions were discussed by high-profile speakers from Swiss organizations active in global health at an event hosted by the Swiss Global Health Hub in Bern on 29 August. Based on input from Councillor of States Eva Herzog (Basel-Stadt), Gesa. Pellier (Novartis), Jürg Utzinger (Swiss TPH) and Dr. Thomas Gurtner (SRC), the participants discussed the main features of a joint statement in the ongoing consultation process. One thing is clear: Switzerland’s commitment in the thematic area of health must be designed for the long term and must be seen as a central component of the fight against poverty, which the Federal Council has placed at the center of its commitment to international cooperation.
